Duplicate behavior is explicit

If a range is repeated, the repeated page appears again in the requested output.

split PDF: practical guide

What Splitting a PDF Means

Splitting a PDF creates one or more new PDF files from pages in an existing document. You might save a single signed page, extract an appendix, separate a scanned bundle, or divide a long packet into smaller pieces.

This split PDF tool supports selected pages, multiple page ranges, every page as its own file, and groups of every N pages. When more than one PDF is produced, the result is packaged as a ZIP so the files stay together.

Page Ranges and Validation

Ranges use familiar numbering such as 1-3,5,8-10. The validation is strict so mistakes are caught before output is created. Backwards ranges, zero, negative values, and page numbers beyond the document are rejected with actionable errors.

Duplicate pages are allowed on purpose. This is useful when a cover page or instruction sheet needs to appear in more than one extracted packet.

Local Processing

Processed locally in your browser. Your file is not uploaded.

Generated object URLs are revoked when you reset or leave the workflow, and file references are cleared on reset.

Common use cases

Share a chapter

Extract just the pages someone needs instead of sending a full document.

Separate invoices

Split a combined PDF into individual records.

Prepare uploads

Save only the required pages for a form or portal.

Limitations and quality notes

  • Page numbers must be within the document.
  • You cannot split a corrupted or encrypted PDF.
  • Large files are limited by browser memory.

FAQ

Can I split every page into its own PDF?

Yes. Choose the every-page mode and the tool will produce a ZIP of individual PDFs.

What happens if I repeat a page number?

Repeated pages are kept intentionally, so 1-2,2 includes page 2 twice.

Is the file uploaded?

No. Splitting is processed locally in your browser.
