File deletion policy

This policy explains what happens to files selected or uploaded while using FreePDFHelp.

Browser-local files

Files used with browser-local tools are not uploaded for processing. Local preview object URLs are revoked when files are removed, reset, or the component unmounts. Browser memory cleanup is best-effort and depends on the browser.

Server-side files

Server tools store uploads, job input, temporary work files, and verified output under random internal identifiers. Original filenames are normalized for display and downloads, not used as storage paths.

Retention

Incomplete upload reservations expire after 15 minutes. Completed server job source and output files are retained for 60 minutes by default. Expired ownership and download tokens stop authorizing access.

Delete now, cancellation, and failures

Delete-now requests remove job files and mark metadata deleted. Cancelled temporary output is cleaned immediately where possible. Failed partial uploads are removed after failure. Cleanup may retry after worker or server restarts.

Future storage

The current implementation uses local temporary storage. If object storage is added later, this policy should be updated before launch to explain provider behavior and deletion timing.
