Open Rotate PDF and add the document with sideways or upside-down pages. Use the page thumbnails to identify the pages that need attention. Select only those pages if the document has mixed orientation, or select all pages if the entire scan is turned the same way.

Choose clockwise, counterclockwise, or 180 degrees based on what the page needs. A page scanned on its side usually needs a 90 degree turn; an upside-down page needs 180 degrees. Unselected pages remain unchanged.

Download the corrected PDF and open it in a viewer. Make sure the pages look right in order and that pages intended for printing face consistently. Rotation should make reading easier without converting sharp text into images.

A common example is a scanned packet where one ID card page is landscape and the rest of the form is portrait. Rotate only the sideways page rather than changing the whole document.

Another example is a phone scan saved upside down. A 180 degree rotation fixes the viewing direction while preserving the page as part of the PDF.

For mixed office documents, rotate appendices or wide tables only when they are genuinely hard to read. Some landscape pages are intentional and should stay that way.

Do not rotate every page just because one page is sideways. Mixed-orientation documents are normal, especially when scans include forms, receipts, charts, and ID pages.

Do not expect rotation to redesign the page. The tool changes page rotation so the page displays correctly; it does not reflow text, crop margins, straighten skewed camera photos, or rebuild a badly scanned image.

Do not skip the final check. Some PDF viewers remember temporary viewing rotation, which can make a page appear fixed even when the file itself was not saved that way. Download and reopen the output to confirm.

The browser-local workflow keeps rotation work on your device, but it still depends on browser memory. Very large or encrypted PDFs may fail instead of producing an uncertain output.

If pages are sideways because they started as phone photos, consider whether JPG to PDF with the correct orientation and margins would create a cleaner document from the original images.

Rotation can also be confusing because some PDF viewers offer a temporary rotate-view button. That viewer setting may make the page look correct on your screen without saving a corrected file for the next person. A proper rotate workflow creates a new PDF with the selected page rotation applied, so the document opens in the intended direction for recipients too.

If the document will be printed, check both portrait and landscape pages after download. A page that looks acceptable on screen can still be awkward if a wide table, ID scan, or form section faces the wrong way on paper. Fixing rotation before printing saves time and avoids marking up a sideways copy by hand later.
